Episode 68.2: Back to the middle and around again.
This week the mic is too close to my mouth for a while. Also: Laura didn't get to talk enough about Brian Blessed. But Rania speaks her mind about steampunk punk, and Supernatural. We all have a laugh about the Visitors.
I understand it's dramatic the way they did it but if the V's have been observing Earth right before they showed up don't you think they would realize humans like a call first, before you park in the yard. Come rumbling in, invade our airspace, park the spaceships over our cities, and then say we come I peace. Screw you. That's a bad neighbor.
I guess they could have inertial dampeners and weather control to counter their meteorological presence but again if you want to be friends you don't park a tank with it's cannon pointed at my house. We haven't meet, call first. All the politicians should recognize this. You flash your big guns and to try to get the lower tech country to be friendly and cooperative. Any country that has dealt with any other country knows that.
I don't go out of my way looking for steampunk but I think one of the best was Neil Gaiman's 1990's Teknophage. It was about a 50 million year old lizard named Mister Henry Phage, who uses Tickle-down economics, his own steampunk advance tech and his numerous abilities to control the multiverse. Gaiman even created a second title called Mr. Hero the Newmatic Man who was a steam and soul driven robot built by Mr. Phage but decided to do good instead. Too bad Tekno Comics stopped publishing in 1997.
