Our laziness would be epic if we could bother to write about it.

ThunderCats... BOOYAH!*

*I'm pretty sure this is how the new call will go.

The new ThunderCats cartoon premieres tonight at 8pm Eastern on Cartoon Network. There will be a solid hour containing two back-to-back episodes, "The Sword of Omens" and "Ancient Spirits of Evil." It's been a while since we last talked about this reboot. A lot of people were wondering what things would change with the show, and when we last talked with producer Michael Jelnic, he had this to say about the storytelling:

We'll definitely reference old arcs, but it's pretty much a new take on it. If there's a five part episode like the "Trials of Lion-O" from the original series, we were talking about how we could do that in this series. The old series had a bunch of five parters because it aired Monday through Friday. Now, with it airing once a week, it wouldn't have the same effect. So we have those kinds of discussion, like how we do our take on it.

In the following interview, Will Friedle (Lion-O), Matthew Mercer (Tygra) and Kevin Michael Richardson (Panthro) talk about the old ThunderCats show (which was a huge part of Friedle's childhood, apparently), and the new show. Will Friedle claims the new show "builds worlds" just like all good fantasy series should. Matthew Mercer compares it to the animated Hobbit, true high fantasy for kids. It all sounds very exciting.

Heh. Totally cute. Anyhoodle, according to Wikipedia, this first season's "big arc" is:

After Thundera is attacked by the lizard people, Lion-O leads the ThunderCats on a quest for the Book of Omens, the one artifact that could guide them to victory. But he'll have to face villains like the ancient evil sorceror Mumm-Ra and the dangerous lizard general Slythe. Luckily, he has the Sword of Omens and its amazing powers at his disposal.
