Holiday Link Roundup!

Kojak artwork by Tom Whalen

We couldn't possibly send you in to a turkey-and-dressing stuffed mini vacation without some of our new favorite things! Tomorrow in the U.S. is Thanksgiving, and if you're not American and don't care, that's cool, too. Just so you know, food-based non-religious holidays are the best kind, though, so even if you're not Stateside, have a big and satisfying meal anyway, and remember, who loves ya, baby?

(Click the jump link for some awesome things we discovered this week.)

First of all, hee hee, here's a really old YouTube video that Alex reminded us of earlier in the week. West Side Zombies:

If you hadn't heard by now, there's going to be a Batman live-action show opening in England next summer. Comics Alliance has the latest info, including a clip of the score being recorded. The important thing to know is that it's actually more like a "Robin: Year One," story, as it's described as "Dick Grayson's transformation from orphan to Batman's acrobatic sidekick." It will also include The Joker, The Riddler, Catwoman, Two-Face, Harley Quinn, The Penguin, Poison Ivy, Scarface and The Ventriloquist, because if there's one thing we've learned from Batman Forever, it's that you can never have too many villains. It doesn't premiere in the U.S. until 2012, and if the Mayan apocalypse happens before then, Laura is going to be super pissed.

Our friends over at Think Geek have done it again, they've gone and invented Canned Unicorn Meat. One can holds 14 delicious ounces from a standard unicorn, hopefully with cuts from the "love" and "wishes" portion of the beast. (No, but really, it's a stuffed unicorn in a can. I wish it was Spam with rainbow sprinkles on top, but the stuffed unicorn is cool, too.) $11.99 and it can be yours, or you can horrify your co-workers for Secret Santa Swap this year.

baseman.jpg Mimobot just announced two new designs by artist Gary Baseman -- the "HotChaChaCha" and "Toby" USB drives are available in 2GB to 16GB memory capacities. Both are characters featured in Baseman’s paintings and vinyl toy pieces.

Our friend Robopanda over at Gamma Squad has breaking news on the "slutty Wonder Woman" front: competing porn parodies.

You've probably already heard the news that Warner Bros. is going to go ahead and remake the Buffy movie, without Joss Whedon's input and without regard to my love of the original Kristy Swanson / Luke Perry version WHICH CANNOT BE TOPPED. I'm sorry, it just can't. Donald Sutherland and Stephen Root and Hillary Swank and David Arquette and even Thomas Jane. That sort of thing is history and beautiful and deserves to be preserved like Citizen Kane and The Wizard of Oz. Anyway, Joss Whedon's response is over at E! Online if you haven't seen that, either.

The unfortunately named Comic Twart is a group of artists who post their artwork as a group, and based on a theme. The incredibly talented Tom Fowler is part of this assemblage, and suggested that this week's theme be Futurama based. Check out all the different arts based on our favorite cartoon set in the year three thousand or so, and then make sure to pick up a copy of Tom Fowler and Jeff Parker's brilliant Mysterius! The Unfathomable.
