Wolverine Wants You Smarter, Stronger

I was planning on plugging Free Comic Book Day (Saturday, May 2nd) on here soon, but The Beat had this cool PSA, naturally accompanied by an "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" trailer. Why should you listen to me when you can listen to Hugh Jackman? He's got that sexy Aussie accent. To make things extra easy for you, here's a link to the Free Comic Book Day website, where, in addition to finding a comic shop near you, you can see the comics that will be available.

Not to come off as the shameless Hugh Jackman fangirl that I am, but I think this is pretty cool. I may have criticized Jackman in the past for doing one of those actor vanity comics (which I'm guessing isn't happening now that Virgin Comics no longer exists), but he does seem to have genuinely embraced comics.

The Beat also has the Wolverine milk ad, which will lead kids to believe that drinking milk is as good as having a mutant healing factor. It's not, and while milk may give you strong bones, it's nothing compared to adamantium. Wolverine totally looks like he'll go berserker on your ass if you don't drink your milk though, so you better do it.

The important thing to remember here is that Wolverine is all about getting kids to read more and be more healthy. The senseless violence is just a bonus.
